manuka honey!

It's been some time since i updated my blog and my fren said my blog nvr update one.
So here I am today, with another piece of info for my readers!

Learnt that honey actually comes in many different grades! There's a normal honey grade, and a manuka honey grade. (read the link and you'll know more) This manuka honey is produced from the flowers of the manuka bush native only in New Zealand, all thanks to Professor Peter Molan from the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato. Furthermore, this Manuka honey comes in different grades as well. There's the normal Manuka honey, and UMF Manuka honey. There is a certain enzyme inside the honey which has antibacterial effect. Prof Molan spent twenty years, but still unable to identify this enzyme, and so name it UMF, which stands for Unique Manuka Factor.
Even more cool is that UMF Honey is separated into different grades as well.
UMF can range from 0-18, although 19-25 exists but rare. 0-4 basically is normal manuka honey, without the UMF. UMF 10-15 honey can be used for external wound treatment. It's good against cuts, ulcers, and diabetics after surgery.
It can even treat sorethroat and acne. UMF 16-18 honey can be used for internal treatment as well, like gastric ulcer.
The honey is rigorously tested three times for UMF before it can be branded with the UMF manuka honey label. This is a guarantee of the honey, and is done only in New Zealand.

So cool, and it can be used for facial as well. Guess it's about time I get some manuka honey. Anyone want some as well? Rem to tell me, and I'll get for you. I shld go ask my New Zealand colleagues about it as well.
