Woah, yesterday went to listen to a Dr tell me about nose allergy. So glad to have listen to so much info.
Allergy cannot be cured, and that must be stated clearly. There're ppl who think that allergy can be cured, which is not true. It can only be alleviated such that the allergy is not tt serious.
In the case of nose allergy, symptoms will be sneezing, blocked nose, running nose, eyes and nose itchy.
In serious cases, the lungs can be affected.
The nerves of our eyes, nose and ears are linked, and thus, an allergy affecting nose can affect your eyes and ears as well.
1 in every 5 person have nose allergy, varying on the degree of seriousness.
1. Allergins are the primary cause of allergic response.
Examples of such allergins would be pollen, mites, fungus pores.
Allergic response is more likely to happen at home rather than outside. This is because the air in your home is not circulating and interacting with the air outside, thus is more dirty.
Micro-particles that are not visible to the naked eyes are the cause of allergic response. Dust particles visible to the eyes do not cause allergic response.
Vacuum cleaner only removes the visible dust particles, not the micro-particles. Humidifier also cannot remove micro-particles. These are some common knowledge which ppl may misunderstood.
2. Inheritary
Caused by the 5th chromosome pair producing too much genes related to allergic response, and also Antibody IgE. Therefore the degree of seriousness in allergy can only be reduced, and not cured.
In order to reduce that, we need to have a good immune system, which boasts of our antibodies as the army. To create a strong army, we would need to provide our immune system with the best nutrients and protein are the most needed. Therefore our daily diet should comprise of enough protein.
We have more than 100 million different types of Antibodies in our body.
When the allergins enter our bodies, the first response is due to the mast cells, which release histamine & leukotriene, leading to allergic response (dilation of blood vessel leading to swelling, increase fluid flow leading to running nose, nerve irritation leading to nose irritation, attraction of white blood cells leading to inflammation).
3. Nose structure and function
I don have a picture. haha, you can go google for a anatomy of the nose.
The nose basically
i) keep moist
ii)keep out waste materials
iii)olfactory(smelling) function, which deteriorates with age.
4. People with allergic nose tends to get flu easier.
i) Upper respiratory tract infection.
If not treated, can become pneumonia.
Nasal cavity are there to let us balance our head, which is very heavy.
No blood vessels reach the cavity. And any place where blood vessels do not
reach, is difficult to treat.
ii)Sinusitis
acute/chronic
iii)Middle ear infection
If serious can cause deafness.
Middle of night, will get fever and ear pain. To cure this infection, need to
pierce the ear membrane to cure it. (NB! Send to hospital to do that)
iv) Atopic dermatitis
Serious allergy.
Face, neck, wrist, elbow, back of knee and ankle affected.
5. Hypersensitive Airway
Affects the lower respiratory tract.
Cough resulting from allergic response.
Need to take bronchodilator(medicine) to expand the bronchus. But there are side
effects, whereby the hands will shake and heart rate will increase.
6. Asthma
There are mucus in the air passageways and the air cannot get out from the alveoli
7. Directions to improve nasal allergy
i) Avoid contact with allergins. If parents have such allergies, their newborn
during their first year, don't let them get into contact with allergins and
they will not have such allergic problems.
ii) Medication (cannot cure)
Can only relieve symptoms. Avoid medication at all cost unless necessary.
Now, to improve our immune system, what we need is to have a proper diet of protein (your basic building blocks for your antibodies), vitamins A, C, E (which are for ur basic immuninity) and vitamin B complex (for energy), and Zn and Fe.
However, do note that a newborn's kidneys are not fully developed, and there are protein in the milk they consume. So there is no need to supplement newborns. And for basic knowledge, the protein a person requires daily is ~ 1g/kg of body weight. So if you are 50 kg, you should intake about 50g of protein daily for the proper functioning and maintainance of your body system.
I have shared much knowledge today with all readers of my blog. For more details, do contact me personally and we can have a better talk! Yeah, I putting what I learnt in my uni to good use now, understanding the problem of allergies which I can share with everyone around me.
