it was always said that spore's customer service industry sucks. however, could it also be that the customers here are too hard to please? pampered customers? so hard to please that nobody wants to be in the industry serving them?
back to the reporter's one day stint in the industry -
One was in a restaurant while the other was in a shop selling shoes.
From his experience, one word sums his experiences: horrendous
Well, this does not imply the service, but on the other hand, it's directed towards the customers.
Who had been in the line of customer service would sure be able to tell u incidents of such horrendous customers.
squatting and bending down to your knees, putting on the shoes for the customers...
dishing out numerous heavy plates at one go... at the mercy of the customers...
"customers are the kings"...but even the kings, must go out to win the commoners' respects.
having been a part of the customer service before, i sure do know how it feels to be dealin with those 'uncouth' educated ppl. it was during my ns life, in payalebar airbase, where i had to deal with military and civilian personnels wanting to go into the airbase, day in day out. well, quote an incident:
as someone who had been there done that, i know how it feels to be in customer service. as such, i always treat those in that line with courtesy n politeness.
however, what the sunday times reporter said hit me hard..well, to a certain extent. 'when all your smiles and greetings to the customer were turned a blind eye, as they walked straight pass you, without taking a single look at you.'
well, i do not really do that.. but most of the time, wat i did is just smile back at them. i feel bad.. next time, i will make sure i greet them back with all smiles.
at least, it will make them feel good and appreciated.
whoever is reading my entry now, do ask yourself next time when a customer service staff greet, if u're in his/her shoes, wat wld u wish for the customer to do?
